About the job

We have a current opening for an independent contractor (1099) in the role of VP of Finance. We offer a flexible work schedule from home with local guidance and continued opportunities to expand your knowledge and skillset in our specialized sectors.

Basic function

The VP of Finance will be responsible for the development of financial management systems and contribute to the development and execution of strategic goals. In addition to the strategic components, the VP will be charged with developing and implementing more sophisticated policies and procedures both in the finance and general operational realms. This is an outstanding opportunity for a finance executive with operational experience and a proven track record of creative problem-solving and working in a rapidly scaling company. VP of Finance will collaborate closely on strategy and potential fundraising with C-level executives, providing guidance and financial expertise.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Analyze the company's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs, and compliance with budgets.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit - Issue regular status and ad hoc reports to senior management.
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
  • Collaborating with senior executives in financial planning and strategy.
  • Manage a weekly cash flow model with variance analysis.
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.
  • Provide strategic guidance around capital financing options to support company growth needs.
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.

Desired Qualifications

  • 15+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
  • Advanced degree in finance and/or accounting, CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and collaboration with team members, cross-functional departments and senior leadership.
  • Ability to look at financial trends and establish root cause at a detail level.
  • Experience working in a growing startup environment strongly preferred.
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
  • Love of all things Excel.
  • Experience working and managing team members remotely.

The Accounting Associate role plays a critical component in ensuring efficient flow of money, the lifeblood of any company.  This is a great opportunity for a driven individual to gain experience in a range of companies and industries, enriching your professional skill set. What you’ll be doing: 

  • Keeping our clients’ General Ledgers humming along beautifully with skill, efficiency and competence
  • Contributing to a culture of fiscal responsibility infused with creative problem solving
  • Playing an active role in financial reporting, capital formation, revenue recognition, risk management and contract administration
  • Helping prepare financial statements, budgets, cash flow analysis, and periodic ad hoc reports
  • Tracking and complying with service agreements, contracts and external vendor relationships that we need to run the business
  • Participating in the design and build of automated systems and processes to achieve scale
  • Directly or indirectly working with C-level executives of the client companies 
  • Stretching yourself professionally by jumping into unfamiliar territory whenever necessary

 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and enter journal entries for Billing, A/R, A/P, and General Ledger Management
  • Review income statement for proper recording and allocations to ensure the financials and trial balance are accurate and complete
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports for errors and inconsistencies
  • Monthly reconciliation of cash, credit, and accrual accounts
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting, both internal and external
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Assist team in documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • 3+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
  • Expertise MS Excel and familiarity with QuickBooks Online
  • Knowledge of US GAAP
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, project management and communication skills
    • Experience with SaaS companies is a plus
    • Self-motivation, integrity, and ethical mindset

About the job:

Basic Function: The Controller position is accountable for the accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with US GAAP.  

 

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close process
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit

 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, Revenue Recognition, and Reconciliations, ensuring they are completed in a timely manner
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting, both internal and external
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics

 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Proven working experience as a Financial Controller
  • 10+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
  • Advanced degree in Finance and/or Accounting, CPA or CMA preferred
  • Experience and enjoyment of managing a team with multiple subordinates
  • Experience with creating financial statements
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
  • Humility, open mind, and sense of humor
  • Self-motivation, integrity, and ethical mindset
